Date of alert and post: June 23, 2025
Issued by: NWS Raleigh NC at 2:56AM EDT, June 23, 2025
Alert Duration: Heat Advisory from 11AM June 23 to 10AM June 24 | Extreme Heat Watch from June 24 morning through June 25 at 8PM
What’s Happening?
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for our area, with heat index values expected to reach 105–110°F. Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, and Randolph Counties are directly under this alert, but Concord and Cabarrus County residents should also take these warnings seriously given the regional pattern.
Why Does Extreme Heat Matter for Your Home?
Extreme heat isn’t just tough on people—it also strains homes and especially roofs. High temperatures can:
- Accelerate roof shingle aging and cracking
- Cause warping, blistering, or curling of roofing materials
- Lead to the expansion of existing leaks, making your home more vulnerable to storms
Combined with intense sun exposure, the risk of rapid roof deterioration increases.
Local Outdoor Events to Be Aware Of
With the Queen Charlotte Fair underway at Route 29 Pavilion in Concord (June 19–July 5, 2025), families and neighbors may be spending extra time outdoors. If you’re planning to attend or participate in any activities at the fair, remember to stay hydrated, seek shade whenever possible, and look out for signs of heat-related illness.
Preventative Measures: Minimize Heat Damage to Your Roof
- Inspect your attic ventilation: Adequate airflow reduces heat buildup under your roof, extending shingle life.
- Check for visible signs of damage: Look for curling, cracked, or missing shingles, especially after extreme heat waves.
- Trim overhanging trees: Shade protects your roof, but falling branches during storms can pose risks. Find a healthy balance.
- Schedule a professional inspection: Free inspections from our Concord team can catch issues before repair costs skyrocket.
Curious whether your roof is at risk or if a quick fix now could prevent a major headache later? We’re here to help.
